Ultrasound Lifting with HIFU
Energy that works in depth — where firming happens. HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound. The sound energy is focused and delivered at precisely defined tissue depths; the skin surface remains untouched.
Treatment by area
If you already know the region
The following pages take you directly to booking for that specific treatment.
The principle
What happens in the tissue
Focused ultrasound concentrates sound energy on a single point at a pre-selected depth. There, for a fraction of a second, controlled heating occurs — a targeted stimulus beneath the intact skin surface.
The tissue responds to this stimulus with a natural repair process: existing collagen fibres contract, and over the following weeks the body forms new collagen. This is what produces the firming effect — not from filling in from outside, but from the response of your own connective tissue.
Important to know. Because the result relies on the body’s own tissue remodelling, it doesn’t appear immediately — it builds up over weeks and varies individually. HIFU is a method for moderate firming, not a substitute for surgery in cases of pronounced excess skin.
Three applications
What HIFU is used for
Three clearly distinct indications — each with its own treatment depth and its own expectation. Treated areas include the face, neck and décolleté as well as defined body areas.
Skin tightening
Collagen stimulation and SMAS lifting: the ultrasound reaches the deep connective tissue layer and the dermis. The stimulated collagen formation can tighten the skin on the cheeks, jawline, neck and décolleté — for early to moderate laxity, gradually over weeks.
Fat reduction
Lipolysis of defined fat pads: at greater depth, energy can be targeted at small, stubborn fat deposits. HIFU is used here for contouring individual areas — it is not a method for weight loss, but for fine-tuning shape.
Sweat reduction
Axillary hyperhidrosis: delivered at the level of the sweat glands, focused ultrasound can dampen their activity and reduce excessive underarm sweating. How pronounced the effect is varies individually — we assess this honestly in conversation.
The process
How a treatment proceeds
A HIFU session follows a calm, clear process. How many sessions make sense depends on the area and findings — we determine that together.
Result and expectation
What can realistically be achieved
HIFU is an established, non-invasive method for tissue firming. An honest assessment is part of a well-founded decision.
With early to moderate skin laxity, HIFU can achieve visible, moderate firming. The result is not immediate: it develops through new collagen formation and unfolds over several weeks to months. How pronounced it is depends on skin condition, age, tissue status and lifestyle — there is no guarantee of a specific result.
Where the limit lies
When HIFU is not the right procedure
With significantly lax skin or noticeable excess skin, a non-invasive method reaches its limits. In that case, surgery is the more honest answer — and that is exactly what we tell you. HIFU does not replace a facelift; it is an option for a clearly defined area.
Our approach: evidence over promises. We clarify in advance whether HIFU is the right procedure for your concern — and advise against it when it isn’t.
The next step
Is HIFU right for you?
We’re best placed to clarify that in a personal conversation. We take the time to discuss your concern and the realistic possibilities calmly. By phone at 09132 90 24 770.
Frequently asked questions
What patients often ask
Does a HIFU treatment hurt?
During treatment you’ll feel warmth and brief, localised pulses in the depth. Most patients find this well tolerated. As a specialist in anesthesiology, I place particular importance on making the treatment as comfortable as possible.
How many sessions are needed?
Often one session per area is enough. Depending on findings and treatment goals, a repeat session may be advisable. What makes sense for you is discussed individually — no one is talked into more than is needed.
When will I see a result, and how long does it last?
Because the result relies on new collagen formation, it develops gradually over weeks to months and typically lasts for many months. Since the natural ageing process continues, a touch-up may make sense later on.
Is there any downtime?
No. The skin may be slightly red or sensitive immediately after treatment; most patients return directly to their day.
What does a HIFU treatment cost?
Cost depends on the areas treated and the effort involved and is discussed transparently beforehand. For a general overview of our pricing approach, see our costs page.
Who is HIFU not suitable for?
With significantly lax skin, the limits of a non-invasive method are reached. HIFU is also not the treatment of choice during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with certain implants, or with skin conditions in the treatment area. We clarify this at the initial consultation.
Catchment area
From Erlangen, Nuremberg and the region
The practice Harmonie der Ästhetik is located in Herzogenaurach, conveniently placed within the Nuremberg metropolitan region. From Erlangen it’s about a quarter of an hour away, from Fürth and Nuremberg around twenty to thirty minutes.
Many patients make this journey deliberately — for a treatment that takes the time for history-taking, planning and an honest assessment. The practice’s background in anesthesiology stands for care in tolerability and comfort.
Private medical service, billed according to GOÄ. HIFU is a non-invasive method for tissue firming; results are individual and cannot be guaranteed. This page is for general information and does not replace personal medical advice.
