HIFU facial tightening
Practice Dr. Thomas Ackermann
HIFU Facial Tightening.
The lifting without a scalpel.
Until a few years ago, there was only one solution for sagging facial contours: the surgical facelift. Today, we can turn back time without making an incision. HIFU technology (high-intensity focused ultrasound) passes through the skin surface without causing any injury and concentrates its energy deep in the SMAS layer – exactly where surgeons tighten the tissue. The body’s own collagen network contracts and renews itself from within.
The result: Firmer contours, lifted tissue, and long-lasting collagen formation.
Transparent medical treatment and invoicing according to GOÄ.
Medical premium standard:
- Socially compatible: No surgery, no scars, no downtime
- Deep action: Precise impulses at depths of up to 4.5 mm
- Specialist level: Strong pain management for maximum energy
Description
True tightening happens in the depth
When the connective tissue in the face loses firmness and sags downward (jowls, double chin, loose neck area), creams and light cosmetic treatments reach their limits. My guiding principle of harmony of aesthetics focuses on repositioning rather than simply filling. The goal is not to make the face broader with extreme amounts of filler, but to gently pull your own tissue back to its original position.
For female patients from the Erlangen, Fürth and Nuremberg area who are fully active in their professional life and cannot or do not want to afford weeks of downtime after surgery, medical HIFU therapy in our private practice is the absolute standard.
Deep dive: how HIFU works in the SMAS layer
HIFU works completely differently from lasers, which only treat the skin surface. The ultrasound is focused and creates tiny points of heat in three different, precisely defined depths (1.5 mm, 3.0 mm and 4.5 mm):
- The shrinking effect (immediate): The targeted pulses of heat at approx. 65°C cause the old, slack collagen fibers to contract immediately. You often see this first, slight tightening effect (around 20% of the final result) right after you get up from the treatment couch.
- Neocollagenesis (long-term): The real magic happens in the months that follow. The body registers the heat points as micro-injuries and starts producing a large amount of fresh, new collagen and elastin. The tissue becomes firmer and plumper day by day.
- Fat reduction (optional): In the deeper tissue layers, the ultrasound energy can also be used to specifically “melt away” stubborn, unwanted fat deposits (for example under the chin).
The anesthesia advantage: full energy, minimal pain
We must be honest: an effective HIFU treatment is intense. When the ultrasound waves hit deep on the bone (for example along the jawline), it can be quite painful. Many cosmetic institutes therefore have to drastically reduce the energy of their devices – which unfortunately also reduces the tightening effect. In my specialist practice, we do not make compromises. Thanks to my experience as a specialist in anesthesiology, I use highly effective, prescription-only anesthetic methods to optimally prepare your face. This allows us to work with the maximum medically required energy, while you tolerate the treatment well and remain relaxed.

HIFU skin tightening for patients from Nuremberg and Fürth
Focused ultrasound (HIFU) tightens deeper tissue layers without surgery and without downtime. From Nuremberg and Fürth you reach the practice in Herzogenaurach in about 20–25 minutes. Whether HIFU is the right method for your skin or another approach makes more sense is something we clarify beforehand — an honest assessment comes before every treatment.
