Practice Dr. Thomas Ackermann
Hair loss in women.
Understanding the causes, saving your hair.
When hair becomes thinner, it’s not just a cosmetic issue for women – it touches their identity and femininity. Caffeine shampoos and over-the-counter vitamins rarely deliver the desired results. Hair loss is a medical symptom. In our practice, we put an end to guesswork. We analyze your blood values, hormones, and scalp to find the true cause and create an evidence-based treatment plan.
The result: clarity and your individual treatment plan.
Medical diagnostics & consultation according to GOÄ from €79.
Your medical master plan:
- Identifying the cause: Lab tests, hormones, thyroid & nutrients
- Holistic approach: Considering cycle, stress, and lifestyle
- Specialist level: Evidence-based rather than cosmetic therapies
Description
A sensitive topic needs honest medicine
Many women notice from the age of 30 – or after hormonal changes – that their parting becomes wider or an excessive amount of hair collects in the brush. In my private practice in Herzogenaurach, we take these concerns seriously. We combine medical expertise with empathetic counselling. My guiding principle of the harmony of aesthetics here means: first understand, then treat.
Patients from Erlangen, Nuremberg and Fürth will find a safe space with us to tackle the problem at its root – without empty promises, but with state-of-the-art diagnostics.
Deep dive: Why do women lose hair?
Hair loss (alopecia) is not a single disease, but a symptom with many possible triggers:
- Hormonal changes: An imbalance after pregnancy, during menopause or in thyroid disorders is one of the most common causes.
- Androgenetic alopecia (FAGA): Genetically determined hair loss, which in women usually presents as thinning on the crown and along the parting.
- Nutrient deficiency: A hidden deficiency of ferritin (iron), vitamin D, zinc or B vitamins quite literally starves the hair root.
- Diffuse hair loss: Often occurs with a delay after severe infections, chronic extreme stress, crash diets or medication.
The medical treatment plan
After a detailed laboratory work-up and scalp analysis (trichoscopy), we create your individual roadmap. In doing so, we combine various medically proven approaches:
- Biostimulation (PRP & polynucleotides): We use growth factors from your own blood (PRP therapy) or DNA building blocks to reactivate dormant hair follicles directly at the root.
- Medical microneedling: For a massive improvement of blood circulation and better absorption of active ingredients into the scalp.
- Infusion therapy & substitution: Targeted, high-dose replenishment of diagnosed micronutrient deficiencies.
- Prescription topicals: If needed, medical prescription of hair tonics (e.g. with minoxidil) or hormone regulation.
