After Your Microneedling, PRP or Skinbooster Treatment
What to expect in the normal course, what to avoid for 24 hours and 7 days — and which care supports the skin now.
These notes apply to treatments with microneedling, PRP (your body’s own plasma) and skinbooster micro-injections. All three share fine micro-channels in the skin that close again within a few hours — during this time the skin reacts especially sensitively.
What to expect in the normal course
Directly after treatment (0–2 hours)
- Noticeable redness, similar to sunburn
- A feeling of heat and tightness
- With deeper microneedling settings: light pinpoint bleeding that stops within minutes
In the first 24–48 hours
- Redness fades gradually; a faint pink-reddish tone may remain
- A feeling of dryness, mild flaking of the upper skin layer
- With skinbooster injections: small palpable wheals along the injection lines that resolve after 6–24 hours
Day 3–7
- Mild flaking may occur — please do not scratch or exfoliate it off
- The skin settles down; the building effect develops over the following weeks
Please avoid for 24 hours
- Make-up on the treated skin — the micro-channels are still open
- Touching with unwashed hands
- Sauna, steam bath, hot baths, intense exercise — sweating irritates freshly treated skin
- Swimming pools, salt water, whirlpools — increased risk of infection
- Alcohol (dilates blood vessels, increases redness)
Please avoid for 7 days
- Active ingredients in skincare: retinol/tretinoin, high-concentration vitamin C, AHA/BHA peels, fruit acids
- Direct sun exposure; high-SPF sun protection is mandatory
- Other treatments on the same skin area (laser, further microneedling sessions, peels)
What you can actively do
- Very mild, soothing care: thermal water sprays, panthenol creams, plain hyaluronic acid serums without preservatives
- From day 1, wash your face again with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Apply consistent sun protection for at least 4 weeks — freshly treated skin is more prone to hyperpigmentation
When to contact us
- Persistent, increasing redness beyond 72 hours
- Pus formation, weeping areas, increasing warmth — signs of a skin infection
- Unusual blisters or pustules, especially in patients with a history of herpes (reactivation is possible)
- Allergic skin reactions with itching and wheal formation
